2020 - The Year That Was(nt): Vandana Kumar

The moon climbs up slowly

The sun begins its descent

A million thumbs

In a million cities

Scroll up and down

Their mobile screens

Prisoners of our minds

We already were

You dont want to assess

The cruelty of this year

The wounds too fresh

The onion

A little too pungent

There will be tears

In our kitchens

Time flows in a river

You cant pluck out a date

Call it end of the bad year

So many babies were conceived

In a year you want to erase

The history of grief

Is too old

To have started this year

And too young

To end with it
