MEN ARE MEN : A MYTH OR REALITY: AN OPINION

Quite a few years ago, one of the noted politicians commented on the heinous crime of rape and murder. He said, " Boys are Boys. They make mistakes. Will you hang them for rape? ". A derogatory statement which shocked the globe. How merciless and oppressive a man could be, when his lips managed to utter such awful expressions in the open forum incorrigibly!

Days passed by. Nights waved us au revoir. But the intention of ravishing someone followed by the different measures to wipe out every single evidence is rampant in the social fabric. No matter, how much we claim ourselves to be a segment of this 21st century, the 'primitive notion' is yet to be completely effaced! 

  Undoubtedly rape is a serious offence. However, the root lies in the sacred magnum opus, where a woman ( during her mensuration) was dragged by her hair to the open court to disrobe her or the instance of abducting an aidless woman in the absence of her husband. Many more are dispersed, but we pay a less attention to such stuff. The blunder sprouts when we just love to focus on the present tense, without considering the origin, vital to fathom the essence of fatal rape of a woman! 

   There are aplenty reasons why men love to indulge in such a bloody game. Innumerable factors reign supreme, though they vary from individual to individual. 

   A sexual assaulter can be any person. It is not necessary he should be an unknown one. The rapist can also be a part of the family, hidden and seems to await the chance to paw his prey to vilify her virginity!

   According to Dr Samuel D. Smithymam, US psychologist, men who raped someone in their life were totally unconcerned about such a criminal offence. This surprised him when he interviewed nearly fifty men of different socio - cultural backgrounds who had an experience of rape! 

  Researches have further shown the prime motives behind such an unpardonable offence - a strong lack of empathy, " narcissism", " rejection" at any point of time and " nurturing hostile feelings towards the fairer sex". In other words the sheer presence of " Toxic Masculinity" is the base of all evils! Men are insecured. This sense of insecurity prompts them not only to prove their worth and strength in the patriarchal society but also not behind their peers. 

    Rapists are of various types. An opportunistic rapist will always look forward for gratifying his sexual desires. A sadistic rapist derives immense pleasure by inflicting pain upon the victim. And finally the vindictive rapist vents his anger and aggression towards a woman . The reason is as simple as anything. He believes he has every single right to molest and ravish a woman to touch the highest degree of this social crime, as he was once rejected or refused or hurt by someone to enter a love lock.

    On the other hand, in the rural areas where people grapple with the darkness, " rape '' is a powerful tool to frighten them and throttle their voice of protest against the inhumanity.

     Whether rape is just about sexual desire or an act of violence is yet to be assessed! It is necessary to establish that rape is not just a behavioural disorder or mental unsettlement. Some experts agrue that " rape is an adaptation". There is an intense urge to spread the gene among the female folks. Moreover, social scientists, feminist activites opine rape as an exclusive step to encourage in the unbearable factors of power, pelf and mayhem! 

      At this present juncture the world is enraged. People have come down to the open streets to seek justice for Tilotomma. But we must take care of the little issues which often get unnoticed owing to our ignorance. A husband rapes his wife night after night. A lover does the same with his beloved day after day in the name of love and romance, a father too rapes her daughter who hasn't even reached her puberty - no matter, if there is a willingness or not. The active participant is the decision maker of the entire episode on bed! 

    Leaving aside the women, one should also mull upon the hardest truth where a man rapes a man inferior to his age, status and social glamour. The blatant truth of sodomy bursts forth here. Some of them even cite, the act is of the same nature - one is of vagina and another is of anal. The nature of genitals is not even differentiated. Mental sickness! Gratification of the sexual lust is the prime motto without any option! 

    No one has given the right to flower such a crime. It is not a birth right. The legal formalities are in vogue to encounter such offenders. But things can only fall in place , if women wake up, raise their voice without bothering about the consequence! After all, they ought to realise the hour has ripened to make the society and its pioneers understand they are also the creatures of blood, flesh and muscles . They are not marionettes at the hands of " poor" men. They are not like a commodity to be shared and consumed, much to their malignant delight. They have a definite purpose of existence. They deserve reverence. They deserve equality, liberty and honour from every corner of the world. Hi men, are you listening to?
