Eid
After thirty days of fasting
against the evils of soul;
the divine gives a call to our elevated persona
as a serene breeze from the heaven
greets our spirit,
in his service—
we get together with our loved ones
and share our joy and moments with them.
Fleeting times changes everything,
yet there are days when you realize
that some things are never meant to change:
on this occasional revelry
we cherish, celebrate
and embrace our lively aura,
we sit together and devour scrumptious sewai
the way we devoured our sinister habits
while praying together during Ramadan,
we celebrate our transformed aura
and all the good we did to prevail over evil,
not only for the sake of Ramadan
nevertheless the whole year.
With smiling faces we hug each other to greet—
Eid Mubarak!
