Blue Jays
(i)
you saw blue jays
trapped in boyhood eyes
amid furrowed brow
still, the beat, beat, beat of wings
on ductile bars-
until velvet thrown over
shuttered a cage.
(ii)
he was butter
armoured in steel
his june-sun scorched back
spread on bread and crumbled
fed their souls.
(iii)
a collie’s spring
all flit and hop, as it pecks
over-ripe custard-apples
unaware, the tree awaits
a shudder of august
when on a denuded branch,
it watches a collie molt.
बाप।
बाप वो घना दरखत है
जिसका साया मन पसंद
दुआए बरसाता है
बाप का घर मकान नहीं
वो औलाद की
सपने भरी आँखों में बसता है
एक गूंजता हुआ आसमान
बाप के सीने के लिए कम है
पर बेटी की नन्हीं हथेली में
सिमट जाता है
